BOBBIE K OWENS
"GAMES PEOPLE PLAY"

Bobbie presents his captivating show The Games People Play, showcasing unique works crafted from vintage game boards. It is hard for me to see anything that doesn't remind me of Art or that which I could make into Art.

I started collecting game boards over 20 years ago. I began thinking about what I could do with the boards to give them my identity and to release the comfort these pieces give me, to you, the viewing public. The oldest board is over 80 years old while the newest is over 40 years old. The collage pieces I put into the work are vintage also.

The identity in these game board works is made up into four parts: the internal operating system, feelings, presence and outcomes. This identity process for me never slows down and takes time to accomplish. If you look at this new work and you smile, think of a good memory for you feel comfort, then I have completed my job.

Gallery Artists Include:

Robert Anderson

Nature Photographer - "I am a native westerner, born and raised in Wyoming. However, the landscapes of the Hoosier heartland have captured my heart and informed my art. When I arrived in Indiana I kept an open mind and have found new inspiration for my nature work in the fields, farmlands and parks of the midwest. There is beauty all around us. All you have to do is slow down and look. By so doing, I found out that there is amazing of beauty in the American heartland."

Visual Artist - "It's a title you give yourself and then work over a lifetime to achieve. An archetypal position in a community, it brings responsibility to the collective spirit. Until I claimed my artist practice, I felt lost and unsure of any clear life direction. With a daily commitment to draw from a place of authenticity, it creates my life. It also creates a lot of drawings and paintings. Contemporary drawing is the core of my practice, using fragile, repurposed and temporal supports. I draw with ink, charcoal, and graphite as a documentation of my reality."

Kimberly Free

Oil Painting - Gregg is a painter and illustrator working in her home studio on a small farm in Monroe County, Indiana.n “I specialize in realistic and whimsical paintings of woodlands, animal, and fantasy landscapes. Many of my recent oil paintings have been inspired by the Court of Thorns and Roses books by Sarah J. Maas, and the Eragon book series by Christopher Paolini."

“My work is abstract and intuitive. There are references to geology, organic growth and the human figure. Contrasting textures, stained, partially glazed surfaces, and sprayed semi-matte glazes suggest ancient worn stone surfaces. A sense of expanding energy and entrophy exist side by side.
Ideas for new forms are found by creating many free sketches and models using various materials and techniques. The use of chance and improvisation in preliminary sketching welcomes subconscious responses.

Renowned for years as a skilled printmaker, Laurie Wright has recently found an exciting new venue, Art in Focus Gallery, to showcase her work. Known for a masterful layering technique in her prints, she’s now expanded this expertise into a unique quilting series, My Favorite Monsters. Inspired by classic monster films of the 1940s and 1950s, this series is a nostalgic tribute to beloved characters like Frankenstein and his bride, Dracula, the Invisible Man, Ardath Bey, the Creature from the Black Lagoon, and even Jaws.
